AWAITING REPEAL
AMERICAN DISTILLERS READY. NEW YORK, November 8. In anticipation of the repeal of prohibition in the United States, Canadian distillers have built up their stocks of matured whisky to 40,000,000 gallons. •They will meet strong competition, however, from American distillers, who, assisted by a duty of five dollars ?. gallon, announce that they plan to increase their production during 1934 to 150,000,000 gallons. British distillers are reported to be wary of the United States market, feeling that the peak demand for Scotch .and Irish whisky may last only until the domestic production of “rye” matches’' its consumption. France looks to the United States as a market for wines, bat California, is. waiting to throw 50,000,000 gallons of wine ..into, flic home market.
