AUCKLAND, September 20
Boyh the Hospital Board and Harbour Board yesterday discussed the advisability of -restoring the salary cuts.
The Hospital Board rejected the motion for the immediate -restoration of the 10 per cent, cut on all salaries up • 0 £450, in -favour -of an amendment that the restoration be considered when, next year’s estimates are being framed. It was pointed out that the Board had been forced by the Health Minister (the Hon. J. A. Young), r o impose a ten pe r cent, cut, but it had refused to .impose a second -cut on nurses, although all other boards had done so. The chairman (Mr Wallace), said that he believed the Board would unanimously restore the cuts next year. The Harbour Board decided to give early consideration to the salaries and wages conditions of its employees, the opinion being expressed that the economic policy had been carried toy far in some quarters.
