What the health authorities describe a s a state of emergency exists in Calcutta. owing to the continued advance on the city of the mosquito which is the carrier of malignant malaria. Two years ago, as the result of a similar warning, a large area in the outskirts of the city was sprayed with insecticide, both by band and by aeroplane. ,

It was hoped l to keep the mosquito from breeding outside, but it is now reported to jhavio penetrated the city confines and there is a grave danger of a malaria outbreak in epidemic form.
