DAMAGES AWARDED
FOR ACCIDENT ON WATERFRONT,

Damages amounting to £475 were claimed in the Supreme Court to-day from Gan noway and Co. stevedores, by Herbert Turner, watersbb>\ who ciaimed that 811 accident in which he hn'i his right leg mushed was <aiise.J through neg'-h-oure m the pmt ot employees of Ihe dofenda:' 1 . cuir.nonv. Turner, in evidence, said he had four accidents while working on the writerfront, but the last was in no way connected with the previous one. Counsel stated thp defence would be that the average earnings by - Turner and the watersidevs generally were considerably less than tlm estimate
hi the claim for damages, plain t ill' was awarded £155 4s, including £oA 'general damages. His Honour said the evidence was not very satisfactory, but he came to the conclusion that £2 15s per week was a fair amount to allow. '
