L would say that a calm survey of the situation to-day discloses a trend definitely more encouraging than lias been the case lor some time past. Prices scorn to he moving in the .right .direction, although not as quickly as we would like, but) the general tone is better than it has been for some time.” : Mr Ransom said the country was at present suffering .from’ the effects of reduced expenditure.
