In a fast and colourful wrestling match, featured by flying tackles and headloeks, Count- Varga and A 1 Pereira finished nn here to-night with honours even. Varga gave the more scientific display, but lie found the powererful and impetuous Pereira a tough opponent. Pereira secured the first fall early in the fifth round with a top body press, which followed a series of smashing - flying tackles. There was action, in plenty till Varga evened up in the last seesion, when lie pinned Pereira with a body press, after lie had badly rattled him with headloeks. MAMOS DEFEATS BLAKE. NEW PLYMOUTH, July 26. Harry Mamas defeated “Whiskers” Blake before a poor house at Hawera to-night. Alamos secured submission falls in the third and sixth rounds. Alamos was superior throughout, but the wrestling was of good quality. AVHANGAREI, July 27. A packed bourse witnessed the wrestling bout in the Town Hall last night, between George Walker, and Jack Clark, the former being declared the winner early in the sixth round. Clark was ‘ ‘back-loop slammed” into unconsciousness for ten minutes. He war, a fall .ahead at that time, having pinned AValker with a dump and body press in the third round. It was the best exposition ever staged at Whangarei, and was ail intensive .struggle from start to finish. Walker's weight was 14st 51bs, and Clark’s 14st Gibs.
