BASKET BALL
W. COAST TOURNAMENT AT HOKITIKA ON SATURDAY Sixteen teams took part in the West Coast Basketball Association’s annual tournament at All Saints’ courts on Saturday. A good standard of play was maintained and some keen games were witnessed.
The final game between .Westport Old Girls and Hokitika Old Girls was a fast game in which both teams gave a good exhibition, with the result in doubt until the last moment. Westport eventually won by six goals to five, and thus hold the cup for the second year in succession.
At the conclusion of the tournament, the cup was presented to- the winninr team by the President of the Association, Miss M. After congratulating the winners, she announced that next year the tournament would be held in Westport, but after that it was hoped to make Grevmouth the permanent centre.
