At the meeting of the Mining Executive on (Saturday night, attention wcis drawn to the provisions of the Mining Act relating to gold-dealera. A mean theft was pel petrated at the Poultry Show on Saturday afternoon. Among the entries in the knitting section was a lady's scarf and beret, which had been made by a young girl. They had been admired by several people and when, fixe minutes, later, attention was again drawn to them, it was discovered that some light-fingered person had appropriated the beret.

The necessity for improving access up the Wataroa river is being urged by those acquainted with the position. The river-bed is rough and the hillsides, where detours have to be made, iare very steep and difficult. In view of the gold find in that region it should be wise to open a prospecting track for general access.
St. Mary’s Parish ball takes place in the Soldiers’ Hall on Wednesday evening when a large attendance is looked for. Every support is looked for as dancers will be catered for to perfection.
