At the opening of the Victorian State Parliament to-day, the Lieutenant Governor, Sir William Irvine, announced that Sir MacPherson Robertson had expressed his willingness to place at the disposal of the State one hundred thousand pounds, to be used in connection with the centenary celebrations. The money could be allocated for a girl’s high school, as a cultural centre for children, the construction of another bridge over the river Yarra, and the prizes for the centenary air race, for which, sixteen thousand is earmarked
