At •' Southport, Britain defeated United States in the professional golf contest. for the Ryder Cup. Britain has now won the cun three times and United States twice.
In the singles to-day, each team won four matches.
Mitchell (Britain) beat Dutra 9/8. Havers \Rritfafh)’ AMt* Di2lc • 4/ 2: '■* Allis (Britain) beat Runyan 2/1. Eastevbrook (Britain) beat 'Shutc one up. Sarazen (United States) beat Padgha'm 6/5.
Craigwood (United States) beat Davies 4/3’.
Hagen (United -States) beat Lacey 2/1. ° Horton (United States) beat Wlutecoftibe 2/1.
■ln the foursomes yesterday, Britain won two matches to one, with one halved. The Price of Wales flew from Windsor to witness this afternoons play.
