In pursuance of the Government’a - ' endeavours to stop the illegal export, of siver coin/ a thorough seareh.ot the.d'M liner ‘Tamaroa was made to-day by about Ao members of the police forefe. it is stated, however, that they failed to find any silver com aboard the vessel. The Tamaroa is due to leave av, 7 a.m. to-morrow for Southampton and London, and the search was' carried out before the passengers went ’aboard. Police searches have been made of the inter-colonial vessels Wainganelia and Marama, but the tamaroa is the. first Home lmer to be searched. It is commonly reportycj, that about; £soo'J in silver coin was taken Horn* by the passengers on one liner a few months ago, while in many cases. the quantity taken has run into many hundreds of pounds.
