His son, Jan Grobler, defeated a Roosite in a neighbouring constituency by over a thousand votes. The Independents include two Roosites, and two Natal Home Rulers, and also two Labour members. Gerry Lower, a well known racing motorist, is one of the Roosites elected. He is returned for Loksburg. Colonel Cresswell, former Minister of Labour and Defence, has retained his seat, winning Balville in a hot three-cornered contest,
