The proposed designs and denominations of the New Zealand coinage that is to be introduced were discussed at a meeting of the New Zealand Numismatic Society. Apprehension was expressed that the Government had decided that the design should be the Coat of Arms on one side, and the King’s head on the other side.

It was resolved to ask the Government to • call for competitive designs, j and that the question of the designs and denominations be referred to a competent committee for an early report regarding the artistic and matic aspects of the matter.
