There was an improvement in the price of sheep at to-day’s Addington sale, and prices generally were rather firmer. There was! a large yarding of store lambs, the quality being superior' to the previous- week’s yarding. ,An unsettled fat lamb-, market made buyers cautious. Best grades were down about 9d per head, lambs from 6s to' 7s being most of the; buyers limits. The store sheep met a good sale for the; better class ewes. All lots sold at the early part ;of the sale met with keen competition. : - Later, sales collapsed, chiefly on account of the poorer class of sheep offered. _ ’ Under four thousand fat lambs were penned, mcludmgb:many West Coast consignments. Competition was steady Ut late rates for-medium weight lambs. Heavy, butchers’ sorts showed an advance of- Is Id per head. Extra heavy lambs sold to 17s Id, prime heavy 13s fid to 15s, medium 10s to 13s, light from 9s. ..• - The fat sheep entry comprised good quality consignments of both wethers and ewes. For alb the' best lots values firmed by Is per head. Others sold at late rates. Extra heavy wethers sold to 17s 4d, prime- v T4s c - 6d to 16s fid, medium 12s fid to 14s, plain from 10s fid. Extra heavy ewes sold to 13s, prime 9s to 10s 6d, ■ medium 7s to 8s 6d, plain 5s to 6s fidj inferior from 3s fid. (W ':'■/?>' ; A similar number of fat cattle were forward this week. The quality was better. Competition was keen for the best lots up ter last, week’s rates. Medium and plain sorts were 'difficult' to quit. Heifers showed an easing.

There was a full yarding of i|at pigs.. The heavier weights met a better demand. There was an improved tone in the bacon market on previous sales. Porkers sold 22s 6d to 27s 6d, heavy 28s 6d to 34s fid; choppers 26s 6d to £3 11s ; baconers 41s 6d to 48s 6d ; heavier 50s 6d to 56s 6d, extra heavy to £3. Store pigs were slightly'easier.
