PROTEST BY N.Z. GROWERS. WELLINGTON, February 16,. Further consideration of the duty recently imposed on tobacco was promised by Ain Coates and Mr Forbes, to-day to the Nelson’tobacco growers* deputation, which asked that the duty on imported cigarettes be increased, in proportion to the increase placed, on the New Zealand' product. Mr Coasts’ said the Government was: anxious to do nothing to jeopardise* a New Zealand industry, and had! taken all the factors into consideration when making the decision.
