STEVENSON’S RINK IN FINAL
The tournament was continued, yesterday uncler mixed weather conditions. ,-uxer a nne morning following' yesterday’s storm tne greens rollea out wonderfully well and were a- surprise to visiting bowlers. There were two showers during the morning, that drove players to the pavilion, but only ,a- quarter of an -hour was lost. The -aifceriioon was fine and the green got faster as the day wore on, pla-y----ill o' perfectly in the later hours /'yesterday. The pairs competition was started aaid at 4.45 p.m. the sixth round of Section B. of the links was completed and ,Section A. ties were played to a final, Page and Mercer leading in the Section-. In Section B. Stevenson led with 5 wins, and there were four ties for four wins for the second place. One round of these ties were played leaving Madsen - and Knight- to play to-day to decide who shall fill the other position. There was a large number of visitors to'the green during the afternoon and play was not concluded till 7.20 p.m. a large gallery staving on to the finish.' WEST COAST CENTRE ANNUAL MEETING OF DELEGATES. The annual meeting of delegates of the West Coast Centre of th e Dominion Bowling Centre was held last evening. Present Messrs James Ring (Greymouth) in the chair, W. G. Scott (Waiuta), F. D. Whibley (Reefton), J. Mo&sop (Runanga), A. E. Benjamin (Hokitika), with A. A. Adams, hon. secretary. The minutes -were read and confirmed. A -quantity of inward correspondence was dealt with. The (balance -sheet showed , receipt-' including credit . balance . £ls .13s 4 d totajled £3l 10 s 4d. Payments totalled £6 3s 3d. The cash funds total £67 3s Bd.—Received .and adopted.' Following a discussion.on the questjor of new Tides, raised by th e G re y Club, being drawn up, it-was'resolved ..to defer consideration to a special meeting to be held in July, Copies of the suggested rules to be circulated : to delegates tor consideration of Clubs.
The invitation of the IRunanga Club to hold the annual' tournament ,at Runanga -commencing on the' second Monday in February 1934, on the usual -conditions was accepted. It was reported that the annual tournament was in progress- and running satisfactorily in spite of weather. The chrtii'maft congratulated the*-tournament secretary on th e excellent d'Dtw.for play.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of officers resulted as follows >—'Chairman, Mr James Ring (reelected) ; secretary and treasurer ? deferred ; auditor, Mr J. Pearson. Mr Adams signified his inability to continue to act as secretary. General regret was expressed, and a ve r y hearty vote was passed for his valued services during the past four years. SINGLES CHAMPION. Entries were received as follows: J. J. Breeze (Hokitika), F. I). Whibley (Greymouth) and N. Leach (Runanga), 'Reefton and Waiuta not entering contestants. It was resolved that play take place on Hokitika green on 'Saturday commencing at 9 a.m. The draw wa® madr as follows; —Whibley v. Leach, Breeze v. Whibley, Leach v. Breeze. The meeting then terminated.
