WEDNESDAY’S POLL dE VALERA VICTORY FORECAST. (Un'ted Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, January 26. The “News Chironit-16” Dublin correspondent says:—Fitim the unofficial returns the first preference votes indicate a clear over all majority for Mr do Valera. Mr do Valera headed the Clare Poll with an increased majority of six thousand. Mr Scan Lemass, a member of the de Valera Ministry, is elected for Dublin City South. Mr Cosgrave, at Cork, polled lour thousand fewer votes than lie did at tlie iast election.
The state of the Irish parties when the counting stopped at 3 a.m., was as follows; De Vnleraites 19 Cosgraveites.. 7 Independents 4 Labour 1

ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULTS.
DUBLIN, January 26
Successful cnndicates aye : Dublin North: —Mr O’Kelly (Fianna Fail) 17,063; Lord Mayor Byrne (Indp.) 14,477; Mr Mulcaliy (Cosgraveite) 8,864. The three aforementioned candidates are elected. Hitherto, Mr Byrne had always headed the poll for North Dublin. Wicklow: —Mr Moore (de Valetrite) ; Mr O’Mahany (Cosgraveite). Wexford County:—Mr Cornish (Labour).

The “News Chronicle” Dublin correspondent says:—As a sample of the election-eve propaganda, Air de Valera’s organ, the “Irish PYess,” published a page full of world-wide good wishes, including a three column facsimile of the Wellington Irish Republican Association’s cable as follows: — “The Irish Race in New Zealand wish you a sweeping victory.’,’

As the Irish election results only began to he announced at midnight, there is no- pres? comment in London, hut the headlines s-liow it- is regarded as a set hack fo-r the pro-Treaty parties.
Some Dublin, reports already forecast a clear do Valera, majority. The “Daily Mail’s” Dublin correßprmdel.it i?ays 'tike, first results suggest that the Cosgravites have suffered from the activities of the new Centre party. Thus far none of the latter have been elected.
