The “News Chironit-16” Dublin correspondent says:—Fitim the unofficial returns the first preference votes indicate a clear over all majority for Mr do Valera. Mr do Valera headed the Clare Poll with an increased majority of six thousand. Mr Scan Lemass, a member of the de Valera Ministry, is elected for Dublin City South. Mr Cosgrave, at Cork, polled lour thousand fewer votes than lie did at tlie iast election.

The state of the Irish parties when the counting stopped at 3 a.m., was as follows; De Vnleraites 19 Cosgraveites.. 7 Independents 4 Labour 1

Successful cnndicates aye : Dublin North: —Mr O’Kelly (Fianna Fail) 17,063; Lord Mayor Byrne (Indp.) 14,477; Mr Mulcaliy (Cosgraveite) 8,864. The three aforementioned candidates are elected. Hitherto, Mr Byrne had always headed the poll for North Dublin. Wicklow: —Mr Moore (de Valetrite) ; Mr O’Mahany (Cosgraveite). Wexford County:—Mr Cornish (Labour).
