NEW (PLYMOUTH, January 25
“The criterion whether the men were there out of idle curiosity, or with the object of bringing pressure to bear on the free labourers was their action subsequent to the time when they were advised by the police to disperse to their homes,” said Mr W. H. Woodward, S.M., in the New Plymouth Police Court, to-day, when convicting several former Unionists of “watching” free labourers in their bunk house at the Waftara freezing works on the night of January 7th.. . Previous prosecutions should have been a warning, he added. L. B. Waters, was fined £10; Jack Hook was fined £5; B. Dambroski and T. B. Ewens jur., were fined £3 each;' T. Johnlson was admitted to probation for a year; and Peter Kawe and Rahei Knrena were convicted and discharged. Another case was adjourned. Charges against eight others were dismissed. • •
During the disturbance the bunk house was bombarded with stones and two motor cycles were smashed. *
