TENSE FEELING
IN SOUTH AFRICA MOTION FOR NATIONAL GOVT. (United Press Association—3y Electric Telegraph—Copyright..) CAPETOWN, January 23. General Smuts’ motion, to-morrow in favour of a National Government is .causing tense excitement. it is knoyyn that he and Judge Roos met 'dVT'ing the week-end; also that the "Government’s position is not assailed. Neither the disaffected Nationalists nor the Creswellites will support the motion. Mr Roos is insisting on a coalition without dominance by either party. The Assembly ratified tile Ottawa agreement. General Smuts paid a warm tribute to the Minister or Finance, and said that they were at the day of small beginnings, which might lead to great developments. Aftejr prayers at the Assembly opening, a man evading the vigilance of the police rushed across the lobby into the Assembly, waving his hands, ahd shouting: “Oswald Pirow, I accuse you of corruption and maladministration.”
A struggle followed with the attendants. The House took a few minutes to recover it s composure.
