TRANSPORT POLICY
BIG NEW SOUTH WALES SAVINGS
(Australian Press Association )
(Received Jan. 25th. at 10.15 a.m.) r SYDNEY, January 25. The Premier (Mr B. S'. B Stevens), says that the railway losses have L-een checked as a result of the Government’s transport policy, although the full effect could not be expected until next year. The deficits on the railways and tramways, which hast year were £4,500,000 and £300,000 respectively, will be reduced to half those amounts in the current year. The two objectives sought were the divorcement of transport from the type of political control which had produced inefficiency and loss, and the security of services helpful to essential industries, and the comfort of the travelling public.
