NO unemployment tan increase

WELLINGTON, January 24
• It was authoritatively ascertained today that the Government docs not intend to raise an internal loan, and does not intend to increase the personnel of the Legislative Council during the currency of th e present session. Neither does it intend increasing the unemployment tax this session.

TO QUESTIONS RE EXCHANGE
SUPPORT OF COALITION
WELLINGTON, January 2d. Questioned to-day, Mr Forbes said that the Government would not be defeated on the Bill i-denmifying the banks against the losses arising out of accumulated exchange credits in London. When a-.-ked .whether members of the Coalition party had been consulted before the decision to inerosuso'exchange was made, lie said that members had left it entirely to the Government to do. whatever they thought fit t<i meet the crisis, and pro-ini'-ed to support the Government in whatever policy it deckled to adopt. The only communication sent to members was one announcing Cabinets decision on the exchange question, and requesting them to withhold comment until a statement was placed before 'to-day’s caucus. Air Forbes also stated that the vote on the Bank Indemnity Bill unquestionably would be on party lines.
