BOY INJURED

THIGH PIERCED BY WIRE.

AUCKLAND, January 14

A piece of heavy wire which pierced the thigh of a schoolboy, Maurice Aydon, aged 18, when he fell from his bicycle late yesterday afternoon, inflicted painful injuries and severed the sciatic nerve. The wire narrowly missed an artery.

The boy, who lives in Fergusson Avenue, New Lynn, was “double-bank-ing” on a bicycle with another boy when they both fell. The piece of wire was embedded in the ground and pierced the boy’B :■ thigh when -he ■ fell heavily on it. He was taken to the Auckland Hospital by a St. John ambulance. His condition last evening was not serious.
