CYCLIST HURT

SERIOUS HEAD INJURIES. AUCKLAND, January 14. ■Grave injuries to the head, including concussion, were received by a motor-cyclist, Mr Donald Vernon watenby, aged 22, of 10 Windmill Road, Mount’ Eden, when he fell after his machine had struck a pedestrian at the Symonds Street end of Grafton Bridge about eight o’clock yesterday morning. The accident ocucrred when Mr Gateuby swerved to avoid some workmen. He was thrown to the' ground and together with the pedestrian, Mr Charles O’Dowd, of Virginia. Avenue, Eden Terrace, he was taken to the hospital by a St-. John ambulance-. Mr O’Dowd was able to leave after receiving attention, but Mr Gatenby was in a serious condition, last evening.
