LONDON, January 12. The “Times” of January 10 contained the following:— New Zealand • newspapers -which have just arrived in London give prominence to a movement for the preservation of the beauty of the countryside. The movement has the active support 0 f the Governor-General and already, as the outcome of His Excellency’s efforts, there is every likelihood that a great many hoardings will shortly disappear. Most of the motor spirit firms have agreed to remove their roadside advertisements except those at the entrance to towns indicating where there requirements could be obtained. Other advertising firms ai'e following the example of the motor oil companies and it is hoped that in the very near future New Zealand’s scenic beauty, which is unexcelled, will be; free from the attentions of the vandals.
