LONDON, January 16
A Lisbon message states that twenty-nirte Spanish prisoners who were implicated in monarchist rioting, and who escaped from Villa Ciseros, have landed in Portugal, after an 1800 mile voyage in a hundred ton fishing boat, in which they eluded Spanish warships that were searching for them.
When they were brought to Lisbon, from a fishing village, where they had landed, they were assured of all of the facilities which a hospitable nation could provide for political refugees,
Don Alfonso, n cousin of ex-Jylpg Alfonso, said that the conditions at' Villa Ciseros were terrible. .After being warned that they might be tried and sentenced without any .legal advice, they took advantage of the New Year celebrations, and were, able to. get away in a fishing boat that was provided by friends'. They have suffered great privations owing to their boat getting lost in the high seas, and to fl!ie motor (failing. They 'sighted four merchantmen, but) they were afraid to signal them lest they might be Spanish. .
