Dragging operations were , carried out, without result, to-day by the police, who searched the river below Parakinp, twenty miles from Wanganui, for the body of Noel. Gledhill, a single man, aged 29, of Wanganui, who disappeared in the river yesterday while bathing.- -■-! ,

MAN’S NECK FRACTURED

The -death-, of iSamuelFlaveil, aged 69 years, of Northcete, : occurred: in the Auckland Hospital;: ’. to-night. ; Flavell fractured his neck on November Ist, but - not realising, the .seriousness of his injury, he continued to -walk about.
Six weeks later Flavell wa« admitted to the hospital, where he remained strapped to. ; a steel- frame. * n •
