Two escapees, from Hautu prison camp, last February, Edgar William Allen, alias Roy Norris, and Charles Bennett, appeared before justices • to answer many charges of breaking, entering and theft of goods, and cash from stores during th e ir period vf liberty. They pleaded guilty to all the charges.
Of the five principal charges, Bennett wa<s committed to Auckland iupreme Court for sentence. Du the minor chargee he wag sentenced ta 18 months’ imprisonment. Another charge of theft of jewellery, etc., at vVav<.rlcy was preferred against Bennett, who was remanded to Wanganui. Allen had been dealt with on many other charges soon after his recapture last April in the Wanganui district.
Bennett was recaptured a fortnight ago in the Te Kuiti district.
