There was an ovemsupply of beef, which made a fine showing in quality. Tiie market was dud and Jiteless. Sales were difficult to make. The butchers were operating freely, but at very restricted limits. Best heavy bullocks odd to £lO 2s Gd, prime heavy £7 to £8 12s (id, prime lightweights £5 15s to £7 ss, unfinished £4 'to £5 2s Gd, inferior from £3 ss. Best heavy heifers sold to £7 17s (kl, prime £5 lotto £(i 15s, medium £4 to £4 10s, light from £3. Extra heavy cows sold to £7 2a Gd, prime £4 2s Gd to £4 17s 6d. medium £2 10s to £3 ss, light unfuiisln od from 30s. Four thousand fat sheep were yarded. nn stilv cwet-. The quality was not attractive. Values showed no increase on the previous tscale. There was a small offering of store sheen, mostly wethers, which met a ■steady demand at Is per head rise on ••ecent rates. Ewes and lambs sold at lake rates. Four thousand fat lambs were offered. Freezing buyers were active un to their schedule. The market opened at late rates, but soon advanced up to Is 6;] a head, and maintained this rise throughout. There were many good lots <>f attractive quai'-itv among the entry. Values were: Extra heavy mime lambs to 16s 4d, prime 12s 6d to 14s Gd, light from 9s Gd. There was a small yarding of fat oics. Bacon buyers, were not operating to-day in view of the holidays. Porkers showing a sharp rise, owing to tho shortage of the yarding. Bsconers realised 31s Gd to 41s Gd, porkers 22s Gd to 24s Gd, heavier t0.33s Gd.
