SAN FRANCISCO, December 21

A severe earthquake shook the west of America from Rawlins, in Wyoming, to Longbeach, in California on Tues. day night, but no injuries are reported. The damage, however, was confined to broken windows and crockery. The shake stopped the clocks in mogt places. It rocked the entire State of Nevada, and at Gerlach a large water towei was knocked down. Reno was also sharply shaken. The wall s of the Californian State Capitol, at Sacramento, creaked and rattled.
