NAPIER HARBOUR
BIG WORK APPROVED. (Pt Press Association — Copyright.) NAPIER, December 20. Napier harbour board adopted proposals for the execution of a scheme outlined by Air Furkert and Mr Holderlies,s for the develponieiit of a deep sea harbour at the breakwater. The scheme provides for an expenditure pf £406,700, £71,000 of which is to be secured immediately. Of the latter amount £II,OOO is to be used for iiiaf|itenamce of Liu inner l harbour, until such time ars the breakwater can accommodate lighters and other small craft.
The execution of the scheme is to be spread over four and a ball years and interest -aard sinking fund is to be met by imposing an extra shilling per ten mi all cargo during that period. It estimated that the work will proviuc con itii'-it employment for 200 men, lor three years. Full award wages arc to be paid and the work done by contract, with expected assistance by way °1 Uiiempliyn'ient Board subsidy.
