BATHING DANGERS
A SUMNER THRILL. {Per Presc Association — Copyright.) CHRISTCHURCH, December 19. Owing to a strong current, several bathers got in difficulties at Sunnier yesterday., In one case there was a thrilling rescue. Mrs Fox and Miss Peggy Fisher were swimmi/ig together. They were some distance from the beach, when Miss Fisher saw that Mrs Fox was almost exhausted. Miss Fisher supported her for a period and then called to J. E. Archer, who was not far away. Archer swam over and while lie held up Mrs Fox, Miss Fisher set out for the sffSre to bring help. The 'Surf Club team daslied in and eventual!)!)’ brought Mrs Fox out, but only after the heltman and the woman had been badly buffeted by the surf, at the end of a,400 yards line,, and were frequently submerged.
