Victor Smith met with a serious mishap near Saint Mala to-day. When at a low altitude, his engine- failed and he jumped from the machine with his parachute. He landed safely, but the plane wag badly damaged. HINKLER’S FLIGHT TO DARWIN. LONDON, December 17. Bert Hinkler has completed plans for hi® flight to Darwin. He believes he can do the trip in from four to five days, and he intends to arrive at Darwin before Christmas.
