MELBOURNE, December 18
Prospectors who have returned here from the Granites, Central Australia, tell a sad story of disillusionment and hardship. The men on the field live on flour and water, tea and sugar. The drinking water in impregnated with powdered mica. Many of the men are ill. Others, unable to find any gold, (Struggled back to Alico Springs destitute, and reached Adeaide on free rail passes.
