MEAT LOADING
UNIONISTS ACCEPT TERMS. (Per Press Association Copyright.) : GISBORNE, November 30. There was no waterfront trouble today, the (riroa hold-up being disposed of by the unionists accepting engagement on the company’s terms (as previously stated).
While no difficulty was found in securing union labour to work the liner Matoroa in the roadstead, no recurrence of the trouble, which, at the time the Port Dunedin loaded here, necessitated the /loading of meat by farmer labour.
LONGBURN OPENS TO-MORROW,
PALMERSTON N., November 30.
The Long,burn Freezing Works open to-morrow for the ne.w season’s operations. Twenty slaughtermen are engaged and more free labour will be employed during the next few days. The men are coming from outside districts, the local unionists liaving declined to accept tile work offering.
