MEAT DISPUTE

SHIP’S CREW LOADS O.WN CARGO. (Per . Press Association Copyright.) "WELLINGTON, November 17. The waterside workers having refused to handle frozen meat, the officers and crew o? the Port Dunedin loaded the first consignment, amounting to three trucks, into the vessel this evening. The remainder of the meat, some 16,000 freight carcases, from five different freezing works, will also be loaded by the ship’s complement tomorrow and on Saturdav.

The Port Dunedin arrived at Wellington this morning from New Plymouth, where her crew had loaded frozen meat which the waterside workers had refused to, handle. She commenced here the loading of butter, cheese, wool and general cargo. The waterside workers handled this cargo as usual.

When asked to handle frozen meat, however, they declined.

Several wharf police were in the Vicinity, but there was no trouble. The Port Dunedin is expected to leave Wellington on Saturday for Gisborne and Auckland to complete loading for London.
