DOLE PROTEST
INSUFFICIENT TO LIVE ON.
SINGLE MEN AT WELLINGTON.

WELLINGTON, November 12.
A deputation of five hunched unemployed single men interviewed the Mayor to-day, and protested against their losing one day’s relief work each week.
The deputation stated that it is impassible to live on 7/6 a week, which is now the maximum amoupt they can earn. The Mayor said the matter was one for the Government. He promised to confer with the Minister of Employment, and also with the Hospital Board.
It was stated by the deputation that single men have been turned out of the men’s shelter this week.
When interviewed, the shelter authorities said that fourteen men were turned out of• the shelter yesterday because they had refused to enter a camp.
