There were four fires in country ■centres during the week end. The Strand TheaTio“at~M 7 a-ggawagga- :; was destroyed and threatened the adjoining buildings. The firemen had a hazardous task working/ among live wires. The damage is estimated at £IO,OOO. There was a fire at Weethnlle near Wynlgong, and three shops wer© gutted, the damage being £3,000. A .store at June© was destroyed, the damage being £6,000. A wool-scouring store at Eastmore was gutted, the damage being £5,000.
