CHICAGO MURDERS
FOUR IN ONE DAY
CHICAGO, October 27
This great city, which was said to have turned over a new leaf when it rid itself of “Bigf Bill” Thompson, the last Mayor, is finding its " form again. Though it cannot show the wholesale killings that made Chicago notorious, in the reign, of “Scarface” A 1 Capone, it has tallied four murders in the last twd days. Two of Capone’s former lieutenants have beenl found with the.r heads partly blown off. Evidently the crime was done by a “friend” whom they took riding in the rear seat of their luxurious armoured motor car. y Then Johnny Merino, one cf New York’s biggest gangsters since his former partner, “Legs” Diamond, passed out, was found riddled with machine-gun bullets.
...Elis body was trussed securely in * jute sack, with the knees buckled against the breast. The fourth victim was just an ordinary gangster.
