'•■ •“We expect at the Rqyai Show to find the best, land we had them. The display of Southdown sheep would, he hard to beat in any part of thei world. In fact, two or three English sheep here, failed to get p. front seat.” This was the comment made by the judge (Mir W. J. Jenkins), of Sheffield (Canterbury) in reviewing the open classes of Southdown fihoep at the Royal Show. “Awards wore allocated among several exhibitors,” he added, /‘indicating that there was not a monopoly of one stud flock. . I doubt if better quality has ever been seen at any Royal Show in New Zealand. It is some years since I last judged at this centre, and I believe that the wool has improved during that time.” All the principal awards in , the Southdown ‘ pen classes wort annexed by the Manvawatu district. The championship winners were : Large .black pigs, . boar, D. and S. Boss, Tepuke; reserve, G. M. Whitelock, Paliuer.tsou North,.. Spw, G. 'M. Whitelock.: reserve. D. and S. R° ss -
