OF A REPUBLICAN IRELAND. SIR H, O’NEILL’S OPINION. (Australian Press Association.) PERTH, October 18. Among the passengers on the liner Orontes, is Sir Hugh O’Neill, He was the first Prime Minister of Northern Ireland. Interviewed, he said: “The idea of a Republican Ireland is absurd. It is not worth talking about. If the Free State left the Empire, it would mean chaos, disaster and ruin; but Ulster would not raise a finger to keep the Free State inside if she wanted to get outside of the Empire. At the same time, Ulster is very anxious to live in peace with the Free State.

The Bill extends benefit pensions to men actually seized in the Four Courts and other Dublin buildings in 1922, who participated in ensuing battles. The Bill recognises the T.R.A., the Irish Volunteers. Fiannn Eireann. Hibernian Rifles, and Cnmmnn na Mban. or any member, which will be deemed to have seen “military service,” if he or she is arrested as a result of activities, or evaded capture or pursuit by the armed forces of the British Government. the Free State Government, or Northern Ireland.
