FAIRLY BEATEN
DOMINION ROWING EIGHT. STATEMENT BY COACH. WANGANUI, October 17. Interviewed at Wanganui this even ing, Mr C. A. Healey, coach for the New Zealand Olympic eight ac the Olympic Games, said - that tne statement made, by the Rowing Council that, “In view'of reports made by. members of the All Black crew it seems reasonable to suppose that if fit fend well our crew would have shown better form and were quite capable of snowing" Combination required for, their succ.:,s,” appeared to condemn his methods of training.
. Mr He a ley expresed the opr lion that the remarks! attributed to the disgruntled members of the crew appeared to have carried more weight with the Council than Mr Healey’s official report. However, he was awaiting, an official communication from the council registering either approval or disapproval of his of coaching before making the statement refuting the attacks made on his ability. The crew was beaten fairly and squarely but, not disgraced. It. would be better to. recognise that fact and accept defeat like sportsmen. % . ,
