OIL FIND RESULT. LOS ANGEL% September 28. Behind a court case which opened to-day is the istory of how Red Indians became millionaires when oil was found on their lands. When the oil boom struck the Middle ’West, Chief Jackson Barnet, of the Cree Indians, turned the ownership of the lands into millions. When h e began to buy (New York cabarets fifteen years ago, the Government declared him. incompetent to handle his affairs, an! formed a trust to guard his interests.
Now, at 90, the o.ld chief has untold wealth. A few months ago, he married a 60-year-old white woman, who immediately found legal means of dissolving the Government's protectorate over her husband. Tile Gover .ment is now trying to isecure the return of half a million which the old chief transferred to his new wife.
