PROPOSED SUBSIDY STOPPAGE. WESTLAND SUPPORTS BOARD. Support to the Greymouth Harbour Board’s de.egaticn to the Piime Minister regarding the i roposed cessation of the annual subsidy to the Board has been given by the Westland County and the chairman (Mr J. A, Murdoch)/ sent the folilowing telegram to-day to the Premier, the Rt. Hon. G. "W. Forbes:— . . t The proposals of the National Expenditure Commissibn, ,ecommendiug the cutting out of the annual payment ■of twelve thousand pounds to the Grey Harbour Board, if car-' ried into effect, will mean crippling the finance of the Board. Ultimately the result will be the necessity to collect a special rate over the Harbour district, which includes West.and,, County. Therefore we strongly urge you to give favourable consideration to the representations of the Board’s delegates meeting you to-morrow:
