TO STOP CRITICISM
MINISTERS INSPECT: WORK, ; J. MR FORBES ENTHUSIASTIC. 'CHRISTCHURCH, September 23. The enthusiasm of the Prime Minister following a personal investigation of filie work being done by the Wheat Research Institute, prompted the Chairman to the institute, Dr. H. G. Denham, at. this morning’s meeting to suggest that a! Ministers of the Crown, when in Canterbury, might 1 be taken round and shown what was being done.
It might 'step (any absurd criticism of what is being- done in certain industries,” he saidDr. Denham said the Prime Minister visited the Wheat Institute on Friday last and was iiiost enthusiastic concerning the, work done. On the day before, he had inspected the experimental plots at Lincoln. “Now he has fnpre than a 'bird’s eye view of the work we are carrying out,” he added. The secretary, Mr Callaghan, said |he Prime Minister had advised the Institute off the favourable impression he had gained from his visit on his return to Wellington.
