The wrestling contest for the British Empire heavyweight, phnmpimi-i ship to-night, between'‘George Walke-p (Auckland, formerly ol ’Oanfrtta) hudl Sam Claphlam (Yorkshire, England); resulted in a win for Walker in the fifth round, after a disappointing exhibition, in which Walker dearly was superior.
The winnter gained a. fall in tlie first round with' u iiever.se wrist-lock and body press. He then submitted to a double toe-hold, an action which the crowded house took unkindly. Walker carried llis opponent along until the fifth, round, when he won another fall with a Avristltock and body press.
