MORE BURGLARIES

IN CHRISTCHURCH MINISTER’S HOME SEARCHED. (Per Press Association — Copyright.) * CHRISTCHURCH, September 6. The wave of burglaries continues in Christchurch. Again during the weekend sevaral cases were reported td the police. All showed the same evidence of careful preparation which have marked other thefts during the recent period.

A daring theft was attemped at the residence of the Rev P. N. Knight on Sunday evening, while he was conducting the service at the Durham Street Methodist Church. For the time his residence, 54, Chester Street, was unoccupied and thievesi seized the opportunity, breaking through the back door and ransacking the premises. When Air Knight returned home a’t 8.15 p.m. he' found unmistakable evidence of an entry, all drawers being emptied, and ieve4y wther'' pla.de of concealment thoroughly searched. Nothing of value, however,’ was missihg.

A second theft was at the home of Mr Charles Ross, 282, Meorhouse Avenue, While Mr Ross and his family were away at Waikuku, between 10 a,in. and 6 p.m. yesterday, thevr home was entered through if window and ransacked, a gold ring being stolen. The Itheiif made a. thorough search, and considerably upset the place. A similar condition was reported by Mr F. Dudney, of Whiiteleigh Avenue, whose home was entered also through a window. The house was ransacked, clothing and 2s in money stolen.
