TO TRY AGAIN
the ascent of m;t. Everest

(British Officiil Wireless.) RUGBY, Sept. 3 Another attempt to conquer Mount Everest is to be made by British climbers next year. This announcement was made in a letter from the Royal Geographical Society. It is signed by Admiral Sir William Goodenough, president of the Royal Geographical 'Society, and BrigadierGeneral Bruce, who was leader of the .1924 expedition. General Bruce hopes that, by the beginning of May, the 'expedition would be 'well up the mountain. (The attempt ,to climb Mt. 'Everest began with a reconnaissance expedition in 1921. This was followed ,in -1922, 1924 and 1925 by further ventures; but up to the present, the mountain has proved unconquerable.
jt was in 1924 that G.--L. Mallory and A. C. Irvine lost their lives in an -attempt to conquer the last 1000 feet of the 'ascent, It was established beyond 'doubt they• had reached a Iheight of 28,000 feet, but the manner of their death could only be conjectured.
