A TEMPORARY SETTLEMENT.

There has been a temporary settlement regarding the strike of 299 slaughtermen, at Homebush Abbattoirs, which resulted on Friday in the Roger Meat Company, Ltd., being unable t( slaughter two thousand lambs intended for shipment overseas next week The employees sought the dismissal of a foreman, which the company refused Successive stopwork meetings followed culminating in the strike. The company threatened to remove its business to Victoria, owing to the constant difficulties with the men.
Upon the strike being temporarily settled, work was resumed to-day, pending an official inquiry into the causes of the strike.
