NEW DIVING SUIT.

SUCCESSFUL DEMONSTRATION.

SYDNEY, August 31

A- diving suit invented by two Australians, claimed to revolutionise diving practice, was successfully tested m Sydney harbour by Diver H. R. Locke, in the presence of scientists, engineers, medical men and shipping representatives.

Locke descended 165 feet, remained at the bottom for an hour and ascended in , about three minutes. He also broadcast a talk from the harbour bed.

A feature of the invention is that the diver is, able, with safety, to remain below much longer at great depths, and then ascend much more rapidly, than a diver using the standard diving dress. Moreover, it is more mobile, and the diver is even able to breathe for fifteen minutes, in the event of the airline being severed. He can manipulate valves in his helmet, keeping the ait at normal pressure,
