OVER BOYCOTT OF JAF. GOODS

There are now increased .Japanese naval patrols with fixed bayonets in the Hqngkew district. In Shanghai, Japanese armoured car patrols are also increasing.Local anxiety is growing. Regarding the anti-Japanese boycott, it was officially stated at the Japanese consulate here to-day that portion of the Japanese fleet is returning shortly to 'Slvsr.ghai as a precautionary ‘measure.
The .arrival of the Japanese fleet is expected, to intensify the bitterness. It is • reported in well-informed Chinese circles that the Executive of the Nanking Government are considering the despatch of , an expeditionary force to Manchuria, numbering one Hundred and fifty thousand men, hut it will not be before the publication of the report of the Lord Lytton commission, which the Powers sent to examine the MAnchurian situation. It is believed that an extensive mobilisation is in progress in Japan in preparation for a counter-stroke should the Chinese plans materialise.
